What Are the Nasal Turbinates?

The nasal turbinates are natural structures located inside the nasal cavity that play an important role in respiratory function. Present in every individual, they warm and humidify the air we breathe and filter out harmful particles, helping ensure that healthier air reaches the lungs.

In some cases, however, the turbinates can enlarge beyond their normal size. This condition, called turbinate hypertrophy, can lead to a range of symptoms, most notably nasal congestion.

What Happens If It's Left Untreated?

Do the turbinates grow back after surgery?
