What Is Rhinoplasty in Ankara?

Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) is a surgical procedure performed to improve the size, shape or function of the nose. Prof. Dr. Esin Yalçınkaya, one of the most experienced names in this field in Ankara, plans a personalized operation for every patient based on their facial features and individual expectations.

Rhinoplasty covers a wide range of interventions, including removing a nasal hump, reshaping the tip, narrowing or widening the nostrils, and adjusting nasal length. An internal nasal deviation (septum deviation) can also be corrected in the same session, resolving both aesthetic and functional issues in a single operation.

Important Note
Rhinoplasty is not only about appearance. Breathing difficulty, sleep quality issues and voice tone problems can also be resolved together with rhinoplasty.

Open or Closed? Differences Between Techniques

Rhinoplasty is performed with two main techniques: the open technique and the closed technique. Prof. Dr. Yalçınkaya prefers closed technique rhinoplasty whenever the case allows, because this method leaves no external scarring and recovery is noticeably shorter.

How Does the Operation Process Work?

Rhinoplasty at Prof. Dr. Yalçınkaya's clinic is managed in 4 stages:

Consultation
We discuss your expectations and structural assessment together. We share the anticipated result with digital planning.
Preparation
Blood tests, imaging if needed. We walk you through the rules to follow before surgery.
Surgery
1.5–2.5 hours under general anesthesia. Same-day discharge is possible; an overnight stay may be needed.
Recovery
Splint removed in 7-10 days. Return to social life in 1 week. Final result in 6-12 months.

Recovery Process: What to Expect

Recovery is quite fast in closed technique rhinoplasty. Rest and cold compresses are recommended for the first 48 hours. The splint and internal nasal packing are removed on day 7-10. Most patients can return to work and social life within 1 week. Bruising under the eyes is usually minimal, and when it does occur in sensitive individuals, it resolves within 2-7 days.

The final shape of the nose emerges fully within 6-12 months. During this time, tissue swelling gradually decreases and the nose takes on the desired appearance.

Tips to Speed Up Recovery
Sleep with your head elevated. Delay wearing sunglasses or glasses for 6 weeks. Smoking and alcohol slow down recovery. Return to sports activities after 4-6 weeks.

Who Can Have Rhinoplasty?

  • Individuals over 18 whose nasal bone development is complete (age 17 may be suitable for tip surgery in individuals whose development is complete)
  • Those unhappy with the shape or size of their nose
  • Those experiencing breathing difficulty (septum deviation, turbinate hypertrophy)
  • Those whose nasal shape was affected by an accident or trauma
  • Those with congenital nasal structural issues
  • Those whose general health is suitable for surgery

Male Rhinoplasty in Ankara

Rhinoplasty in men is planned with different goals compared to women. While the nose is generally narrowed and lifted in women, in men a strong, natural look that suits the face takes priority. Hump correction, straightening the nasal bridge and adjusting the tip position are the most requested procedures among male patients.

Prof. Dr. Yalçınkaya prepares individual plans that account for male anatomy, considering the nasofrontal angle, nose-lip angle and overall facial symmetry. In male rhinoplasty, avoiding an over-operated look is essential; the goal is always a naturally corrected, undetectable profile.

Revision Rhinoplasty (Secondary Nose Surgery)

If you're not satisfied with a previous nose surgery performed by another doctor, revision (secondary) rhinoplasty can be performed. Revision cases are technically more complex than primary surgeries; issues such as tissue adhesions, insufficient cartilage, or asymmetry may be involved.

Prof. Dr. Yalçınkaya is also experienced in revision rhinoplasty. At the first consultation, the current condition is assessed in detail, realistic expectations are discussed, and a personalized surgical plan is prepared. At least 12 months must pass since the primary surgery before a revision can be performed.

Combined With Septoplasty
In patients with an internal nasal deviation (septum deviation), aesthetic and functional correction can be performed in the same session. This combination reduces the surgery and recovery process to a single process, saving both time and cost.

Preparing Before Surgery

Preparing for rhinoplasty is important for a safe and predictable operation. After the consultation, patients are generally asked to:

  • Complete blood count, coagulation tests and imaging if needed (determined at the consultation)
  • Stop aspirin, blood thinners and certain herbal supplements (e.g. vitamin E, garlic pills) at least 1 week before surgery
  • Stop smoking at least 2 days before surgery; smoking directly harms tissue healing
  • Arrive on an empty stomach on the day of surgery, following the timing given by the anesthesiologist
  • Wear comfortable clothing that buttons or zips in the front
  • Have a companion present for the first night after surgery
Clarified at Consultation
Every patient's medical history is different. Your medications, chronic conditions and allergies are assessed at the consultation, and you receive personalized preparation instructions.

Risks and Complications

As with any surgical procedure, rhinoplasty carries certain risks. An experienced surgeon and proper patient selection significantly reduce these risks, though they cannot eliminate them entirely. Possible risks include:

  • Anesthesia-related risks (an anesthesiologist assessment is done before general anesthesia)
  • Bleeding and infection (rare, managed with proper care)
  • Swelling or bruising lasting longer than expected
  • Asymmetry or minor irregularities (revision considered if needed)
  • Temporary or permanent changes in breathing
  • Temporary reduction in sense of smell

Most of these risks are temporary and rarely lead to serious outcomes in experienced hands. Your personal risk factors (chronic conditions, smoking, previous surgeries) are assessed in detail at the pre-operative consultation, and your personal risk profile is shared with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does rhinoplasty cost in Ankara?

Prices vary depending on the scope of the surgery, the technique, and the patient's individual condition. We recommend booking a free consultation for exact pricing. You can call our clinic for installment and payment options.

Is rhinoplasty permanent?

Yes, rhinoplasty produces permanent results. The final shape emerges within 6–12 months. Very minor changes may occur with aging; this is natural for any surgical procedure.

Does closed technique rhinoplasty leave scars?

In closed technique rhinoplasty, all incisions are made inside the nostrils. There is no external scarring at all.

Can rhinoplasty and septoplasty be done at the same time?

Yes. An internal nasal deviation (septum deviation) and aesthetic correction can be performed in the same session. This way, both breathing and appearance are improved in a single operation.

When can I return to work after surgery?

Patients with desk jobs can usually return to work within 1 week. The splint comes off on day 7–10, and most under-eye bruising fades within that time. Waiting 4–6 weeks is recommended for strenuous physical activity.

What's the difference between nose filler and rhinoplasty?

Nose filler (nonsurgical rhinoplasty) is a temporary method; the filler material temporarily changes the shape of the nose. Surgical rhinoplasty is needed for true volume reduction or hump correction. Filler results last approximately 12–18 months.

Is male rhinoplasty different from female rhinoplasty?

Yes. In men, the goal is a natural profile that adds strength and symmetry to the face. The nasofrontal angle, nasal bridge height and tip position are assessed separately based on male facial anatomy. Excessive narrowing or lifting does not give an aesthetically appropriate result in men.

When can revision rhinoplasty be performed?

At least 12 months must pass since the previous surgery; this prevents a new intervention before the tissues have fully settled. Revision surgeries are technically more complex, but successful results are achieved in experienced hands.

I had been following Dr. Esin's work on social media. I had suffered from nosebleeds, congestion, and trouble breathing since childhood but was too afraid to have surgery. My septorhinoplasty was on May 22nd and I was discharged the same day. From surgery until now I haven't had the slightest pain, and all my complaints are gone. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Esin.

I had a nose surgery 15 years ago at a state hospital, but when my problems recurred I needed a second one. Dr. Esin stood out immediately, giving me a sense of trust as if I'd known her for years. I had no pain after surgery and never used painkillers. I wanted a natural look, and that's exactly how it turned out. If you're considering nose surgery, you should definitely meet with Dr. Esin.

I had rhinoplasty with Dr. Esin. I was very anxious at our first meeting — I never wanted my nose to look artificial. Dr. Esin understood my concern and reassured me that my nose would look "natural and great," and that's exactly how it turned out. A friend who had surgery after me was equally happy. Many thanks to Dr. Esin and her team.

After nearly 20 years of being too afraid to have surgery, a 10-minute conversation with Dr. Esin at her clinic was enough to convince me. With her encouragement, the surgery was a success and gave me a whole new look and confidence. My sincere thanks to Dr. Esin and her staff.

I had surgery with Dr. Esin on January 21st for both aesthetic and breathing concerns. From the moment I woke up I could breathe like never before, with no pain and barely any bruising or swelling. I'm extremely happy with both the function and the look. She truly builds the result around what you want — I recommend her without hesitation.

I'm 45 and this was my second nose surgery. The first one didn't turn out the way I wanted. Every other doctor I consulted either called it too risky or failed to reassure me. None gave me the confidence and peace of mind Dr. Esin did. My sister had surgery with her too and we're both thrilled. No pain at all — anyone considering surgery should trust Dr. Esin completely.
